SHEER IDIOCY IN THE NEWS

Sheer Idiocy, the one and only improv troupe for RPI, a private school in Troy, NY, has found itself to be all over the news this week as several members were caught imitating journalists at many respectful news agencies across the country.

Michelle Gore, found writing a piece on "Pro-Humanistic Embraces in Business," at the Los Angeles Tribune, was questioned by security as to who she was and why she was at Ann Veena's desk. Wrote Michelle, "These displays of humanistic acceptance and emotional attachment, also known as 'hugs,' should be more pervasive in the workplace…" It was at this point that security found her.

Kathryn Urbanowicz and Erik Nelson were found composing an article arguing that there existed a correlation between the number of miles traveled by air to that person's count of how many miles they had traveled in flight. The New York Post printed the article without a problem.

Trent Gillaspie was rumored to have been arm wrestling different members of the editorial staff of the Idaho Weekly in order to convince them to publish his article, "Warm Water, Cold Feet: A Look at a Caribbean Merpeople Wedding." It was then discovered that this was untrue. It seems it was a Jell-O eating contest.

Michael DiSano and John Pettengill were both coincidentally writing articles entitled, "The U.S. Constitution," for separate online publications this week. In fact, they were both identical. "We, the people…" they both began.

It seems that these men and women are very intent on influencing the media world in any way they can. But perhaps we should be worrying what they really have in mind….

Rob Headley is currently a writer for the Chicago Tribune.
